The Wilsons have just finished a monitoring trip to our Rimba Orangutan Eco Lodge where current visitors include Professor Shaun Thompson (whose 2010 book “The Intimate Ape” publicises the Orangutan endagered species status) and Professor Garry Shapiro (the first person to have taught sign language to orangutans in theri habitat in the forests of the Tandjung Puting National Park). The Rimba Lodge continues to serve persons who wish to experience the best wild orangutan experience in the world. from the 20th a group led by the famous Birute Galdikas will be at the lodge for several days.

Shareholder Claire Oelrichs (Byron Bay, Australia) is currently leading an Australian school group (teachers, parents and children) from Sydney on a tour of three of our lodges. They have visited The Satwa Sumatra Elephant Ecolodge, Balis Udayana Kingfisher Eco Lodge and The Bajo Komodo Eco Lodge in Flores. The combination of wildlife, diving and snorkeling and their community experiences have been unique and very well received. Tours led by our shareholders are becoming very important in this developing company.

Shareholder group pioneer Birding in Lore Lindu National Park

Ecolodgesindonesia has a dynamic group of shareholders worldwide. Shareholders Karen, Richard and Jackson Hagley (Byron Bay, Australia) have pioneered a new Birding tour for the company in The Lore Lindi National Park in Central Sulawesi. This park has more than 90 endemics and the tour incorporates educators from the University of Tadulako, employees from the National Park and local people. In only two days birding Jackson saw 73 species of bird many of which were “lifers” We hope shortly to have a Birding section to our website.

Our recent visit to Rimba lodge was truly amazing. My family and I found the staff very welcoming and helpful. I should especially like to mention our guide, Hakim. His knowledge of the area and it’s wild life was invaluable to us. We saw wild orangutans due to his good spotting ability and he looked after us so well on our daily outings with him. Please pass on to him our thanks for making our ecosafari so memorable. We shall recommend the Ecolodge to our friends.

Conservation Group of Ecolodgesindonesia

At our recent AGM March 31 2012, the company has established a Conservation Group using the $10 Conservation fee charged to all guests who book through our travel company www.ecosafariindonesia.com (at present The Rimba abd Satwa Lodges only) plus consultataion fees (1 AUD a consultation) of the Australian veterinary company www.myvetoz.com.au The committee members are Meryl Wilson (Chairman), Nyoman Martini, Brett Craft and Marcel Adi. Activities over Easter 2012

Ecolodgesindonesia is very busy over Easter having had our AGM on March 31st followed by an important Board of Directors Meeting. WE# also had a senior accounts mamagers meeting with staff from all lodges April 2 - 4 followed by managing the 16th Bali International Cricket Sixes. The Udayana Kingfisher Lodge is fully booked by The Penang CC and The Top Enders CC.
